About TheMiddleEast.com

TheMiddleEast.com is the Digital Bridge between the Middle East and the people of the world who know little about it: an independent guide to Ultra-Luxury Tourism and Ultra-Luxury Real Estate across seventeen countries, from Morocco to Oman: the finest places to stay, and the finest places to own.

The Digital Bridge

The Digital Bridge

TheMiddleEast.com is the Digital Bridge between the Middle East and the people of the world who know little about it.

For decades, much of the Western Hemisphere has not truly connected with the Middle East. Many people have never been shown its culture, its daily life, its history, or its great destinations. Few Americans have heard of Saudi Vision 2030, or of the other national visions transforming the Gulf. TheMiddleEast.com was built to bring the Middle East to the rest of the world: to showcase everything positive happening across the region, and to connect it with travelers, investors and businesses everywhere.

What we show

Ultra-Luxury Tourism & Ultra-Luxury Real Estate

Two halves of one story, given equal care. Ultra-Luxury Tourism: the airlines, the finest hotels and resorts, private villas, yachts, culture and heritage. Ultra-Luxury Real Estate: the finest homes, branded residences and new developments, the Luxury Real Estate Agencies and Developers who create them, and the rules for buying from abroad. Across the Middle East the two now meet in integrated destinations, where the resort and the residence are built together. This is the Middle East at its best, explained clearly for those discovering it for the first time. Start with Discover the Middle East, the front door to everything the world has been missing.

We cover seventeen countries, from Morocco to Oman, and report only the positive: openings, achievements and opportunities. We leave the headlines to others.

Who it is for

Travelers planning a first visit or a 25th, buyers considering a first home in the region or a 25th, investors buying from abroad without boarding a plane, institutions buying at scale, companies looking for partners and markets, and the curious who want to understand the region beyond the news. Every guide gives the essentials for first-timers, with practical detail for travelers from the United States: flights, entry, dress, seasons and prices in dollars. We follow what is being built in the Middle East Tomorrow and publish ten new stories every week in the Journal.

How we work

We list only the very best: five-star hotels and the finest four-stars, each with its star rating and official website, and every opening labeled with its current status. Our editorial is independent and never paid for. Founding Partner Agencies and Developers are clearly marked wherever they appear, and every page links its two halves: each place to stay leads to the places to own there, and each home leads back to the finest places to stay. Read our standard for the details.

Our sister site

TheMiddleEast.com has a sister for the sea next door: TheMediterranean.com. Together they cover a continuous sweep of coast, culture and sunshine from Gibraltar to the Gulf. To get in touch, visit our contact page or write to inquire@TheMiddleEast.com.

The Founder

Keith E. Shanahan

Keith E. Shanahan registered TheMiddleEast.com himself, on April 30, 1999. Of the more than 3,000 domain names he has registered in 28 years, it is the one he remembers registering, and the one he always believed would matter most.

Since 1998 he has worked with one kind of asset: the exact name of a place. He is the Founder and CEO of The Digital Asset Advisors, which advises on premium geographic names, and he placed ThePalmBeaches.com with Palm Beach County’s tourism authority, Discover The Palm Beaches, which operates on that address to this day.

Today he leads The Middle East Company, which publishes TheMiddleEast.com. Connected with more than 16,000 professionals across the region, he is building it with one purpose: to bring the world to the Middle East, and the Middle East to the world.
