What The Red Sea project is

Red Sea Global is developing two destinations on Saudi Arabia's west coast. The Red Sea spans a lagoon of islands, coral reefs, dormant volcanoes and desert canyons; Amaala, to the north, is devoted to wellness, sport and the arts. Together they are the leading resort projects of Saudi Vision 2030.

The approach is called regenerative tourism: limited visitor numbers, protected reefs and mangroves, buildings set lightly into the landscape and a destination that runs on solar power, with one of the world's largest battery storage systems. Most of the islands are left untouched.
