Luxury Real Estate in the Middle East

Luxury Real Estate in the Middle East has become one of the world's most watched property markets, and this section is a calm, practical starting point for anyone looking to buy property in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and beyond.

Why investors are looking

Why investors are looking at the region

Much of the Gulf offers freehold ownership to foreign buyers in designated areas, no annual property tax and no income tax on rent, currencies pegged to the US dollar, and residency linked to property ownership. Add new airports, museums, resorts and rail lines, and it is easy to see why international families are buying homes here.

Start with our market guides: Dubai Luxury Real Estate investment, Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat and Yas islands, Saudi Arabia, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Marjan Island, Qatar's The Pearl and Oman. Around the Mediterranean edge of the region, see Istanbul and Bodrum and Limassol.

The world’s strongest long-term growth story

Where tourism and Luxury Real Estate meet

Middle East Travel & Tourism, 2025
US$386 billion
Forecast for 2036
US$605 billion, about 6.3% a year from 2026

The region is moving from standalone hotels to integrated destinations, where hospitality, branded residences, dining, wellness and entertainment are planned together. Many of the finest homes in the Middle East now sit inside these destinations, from Saadiyat Island and the Red Sea coast to Al Marjan Island and Diriyah.

Questions buyers ask

Can Americans buy property in the Middle East?

Yes, in many markets. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain all allow foreign ownership in designated areas, and Saudi Arabia is opening further. Each market guide explains the rules.

Does buying property give residency?

In several countries, yes. In the UAE, property worth AED 2 million (about $545,000) or more can qualify for a ten-year golden visa. Thresholds change; confirm with the official authority.

Are there property taxes?

Dubai and much of the Gulf charge no annual property tax, though transfer fees apply on purchase, such as 4% in Dubai. US citizens remain subject to US tax rules, so take advice from a qualified tax adviser.

Three ways to buy

Visit First, Buy from Abroad or Invest as an Institution

Not every buyer arrives on holiday. Whichever way you buy, every buyer is pointed to a licensed Luxury Real Estate Agency or Developer in the Territory.

I. Visit first, then buy

Many buyers discover a place as guests, return to view homes in person and buy on a later visit. Our guides to resorts, flights and cities help plan the journey.

II. Buy without boarding a plane

Many international buyers own before they ever visit. They view homes and projects by video and virtual tour, work with a licensed agency, developer and lawyer, and sign and pay from home, often through a power of attorney where the law allows.

III. Invest as an institution

Funds, family offices and companies buy whole floors, buildings and portfolios. Tell us your mandate and we will point you to developers and agencies with the scale and investor relations to match.

Rules for foreign buyers differ by country and change over time; confirm them with a lawyer before you commit. Leading Luxury Real Estate law firms and lenders, country by country. Register your interest.
