A generation ago, the biggest prizefights were held in Las Vegas and New York. Today many of them take place in Riyadh. As part of Riyadh Season, the capital's annual festival of entertainment, the city has staged undisputed heavyweight title fights, multi-bout super cards and boxing's most anticipated rematches, in arenas built or reconfigured for the occasion. Fans fly in from Britain, Mexico, the US and across Asia, and the atmosphere is part concert, part championship.
Abu Dhabi took a parallel path with mixed martial arts. The emirate's partnership with the UFC began in 2010, and Etihad Arena on Yas Island has become one of the promotion's favorite venues, with a week of fan events around each card. The UFC's July 2026 Fight Night was its 23rd show in Abu Dhabi, and UFC 333 follows on October 24, 2026.

The festival's headline fights have included undisputed heavyweight bouts and big multi-champion cards. On October 31, 2026, Saul Canelo Alvarez challenges Christian Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight title at The Venue in Riyadh.

For Riyadh Season events, tickets are sold on Webook, the official platform, often in tiers from roughly US$50 in the upper levels to several thousand dollars for ringside seats and hospitality. Big nights sell out within hours, so create an account and watch announcements. Tickets are digital and tied to your phone; bring your passport. Fight nights usually start in the evening and run late, with the main event around midnight or after to suit international television. Dress is smart casual. Arenas welcome families and women, and alcohol is not served at events in Saudi Arabia. Make a long weekend of it with the wider program of Riyadh Season and the region's festivals.
