In barely a decade, the region has built a remarkable run of world-class museums. Architects including Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry, Norman Foster and I. M. Pei have given the Gulf some of its most photographed buildings, while Egypt has opened a home worthy of Tutankhamun. For travelers, it means you can see five thousand years of art and history in a single long weekend.
Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island is the center of gravity, with the Louvre, the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum and teamLab Phenomena a few minutes apart, and the Guggenheim joining them. See our Saadiyat Cultural District page and stay at one of the Saadiyat Island resorts.
