Each Spotlight of the Month shows one region, resort or emirate at its best: why to visit, what to see, where to stay and why to do business there, with practical detail for travelers from the United States. Every place we feature is one we can show you in photographs.
Our first Spotlight, the Emirate of Fujairah, runs through November 30, 2026. From December 1 a new place takes the stage every 30 days, and each Spotlight stays here in the archive when its month is over.

The UAE's only emirate set wholly on the Gulf of Oman, where the Hajar Mountains meet clear water. Come for the second-largest mosque in the country, heritage watchtowers, reefs and quiet five-star resorts, and stay for the business: one of the three largest ship-refueling hubs on earth.
