Cyprus Vision 2035

Cyprus Vision 2035 is the island's long-term strategy for sustainable growth, prepared by the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council. It aims for a greener, more digital and more outward-looking economy, and it frames why Cyprus is drawing technology firms, new marinas and luxury resorts to Limassol (Lemesos) and Paphos (Pafos).

Cyprus Vision 2035 in brief

The formal title is the Long-Term Strategy for the Sustainable Growth of the Cypriot Economy, known as Vision 2035. Prepared by the Cyprus Economy and Competitiveness Council after consulting business and government, it was completed in 2022 and presented by the government in early 2024. The council announced in 2024 that the strategy would be updated, so details may evolve.

Its themes are sustainability, digital transformation, a stronger knowledge economy, a better business environment, exports and new markets, and attracting productive foreign investment, especially in technology. See the national visions of the Middle East for the wider region.

What it means for visitors

Cyprus is a Mediterranean island of beaches, mountain villages in the Troodos, Byzantine churches and ancient sites at Paphos and Kourion. New marinas and resorts add polish, and the island's wine villages, golf courses in Paphos and the old towns of Nicosia (Lefkoşa) and Famagusta (Gazimağusa) reward a longer stay. Flights from the US connect through European hubs, and the warm season runs well into autumn, with sea temperatures pleasant into November. Larnaca (Larnaka) and Paphos airports serve the island. What it means for investors

Cyprus is an EU member with a well-developed legal system, and non-EU buyers may obtain permanent residency through qualifying property purchases. Limassol's skyline of seafront towers reflects demand from international professionals, and the tech and shipping sectors bring steady rental demand. The vision's push for green building and digital services is shaping new projects. See Cyprus property investment in Limassol and branded residences across the region.
