One flight to the other side of the world

Few regions are as well connected to the United States as the Middle East. Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad each fly from a string of American cities with long-haul cabins that set the global standard, and Turkish Airlines serves more US gateways than any other airline from the region. Saudia, Royal Jordanian, EgyptAir, Royal Air Maroc, Kuwait Airways and El Al add direct links to their home countries, and Delta and United fly to Tel Aviv, both add Marrakech from late October 2026, and new Gulf routes are announced for 2027.

Flying east, most departures leave the United States in the evening and land the following evening local time. Coming home, flights from the Gulf typically depart early in the morning and arrive the same day. Travelers returning from Abu Dhabi clear US immigration and customs before boarding thanks to US Preclearance, landing in America as domestic passengers. For cabins worth the journey, see our guide to the best airlines in the Middle East, and for the most private way to fly, private jet charter.

Coming soon

Delta has announced its first nonstop to Saudi Arabia, Atlanta to Riyadh, planned for March 2027, and United plans to bring back Newark to Dubai in March 2027. Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's new national carrier, received approval from the US Department of Transportation in June 2026 to fly to the United States as it builds its network around the new King Salman International Airport; its first US route has not yet been announced. Etihad's Charlotte frequencies vary by season, so check the current schedule.

Where there is no nonstop

Oman, Lebanon, Cyprus, Tunisia and Algeria are an easy single connection away. Fly to Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi and connect to Manama or Muscat in about an hour; reach Tunis or Algiers through Istanbul or a European hub. Many travelers turn the connection into a short stay with an airline stopover program.
