In brief

Qatar National Vision 2030 in brief

Adopted in 2008, Qatar National Vision 2030 sets out to make Qatar an advanced society able to sustain its development and give a high standard of living to its people for generations. It rests on four pillars: human development, social development, economic development and environmental development.

The vision is delivered through national development strategies. The third, running from 2024 to 2030, focuses on a competitive, diversified economy, with priority sectors including tourism, logistics, advanced manufacturing, financial services and technology. For the wider region, see the national visions of the Middle East.

What Qatar's vision means

What Qatar's vision means for visitors

Qatar is compact, safe and polished, with superb hotels, the desert and inland sea at Khor Al Adaid, and some of the best museums in the region. Big sporting events continue year after year, from tennis and golf to Formula 1 at Lusail, and Qatar Airways connects Doha nonstop with many major US cities. Weekends fall on Friday and Saturday; alcohol is served in licensed hotels, and modest dress is appreciated in public places. Plan with our Qatar luxury vacation guide and Doha luxury hotels.
