Why go to Lusail

Lusail was built from the sand up as a model city, and it shows. The twin crescent-shaped Katara Towers rise over the marina, Lusail Boulevard is lined with cafés and fountains, Lusail Stadium hosted the 2022 World Cup final, and new islands are filling with beach clubs, a water park and residences. It is cleaner, quieter and more spacious than central Doha, yet the souqs and museums are only a short drive or metro ride away.

Best time to visit and arriving

November to March is the season for strolling the boulevard and the marina promenade. The Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail International Circuit is traditionally one of the last races of the season and fills the city's hotels; check our Formula 1 guide for the current date.

International travelers arrive at Hamad International Airport in Doha, about 30 minutes away. Qatar Airways flies nonstop from several US cities, including New York, Washington, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Miami in winter 2026-27. Lusail is a separate planned city just north of Doha, but it sits within greater Doha and is linked by metro, tram and expressway.

How do I get from Hamad Airport to Lusail?

By car it takes about 30 minutes. The Doha Metro Red Line also runs from the airport toward Lusail.

Can foreigners buy property in Lusail?

Yes. Lusail is a designated zone where non-Qataris can buy freehold, and qualifying purchases can support a residence permit.
