A market coming of age

Twenty years ago Christie's held its first sale in Dubai. Today the region has its own art fairs, biennials and foundations, and collectors from around the world fly in each winter. The art is as compelling as the setting: modern masters from Beirut, Cairo and Baghdad, Gulf artists exploring rapid change, and a young generation working across film, digital media and installation.

Pair the fairs with the museums in our Middle East museums guide and the shopping in jewelers and watchmakers.
