The Journal · Doha
Doha luxury hotels are heading into the cool season with fresh energy: the industry gathered this week for Hospitality Qatar 2026, and IHG's first Kimpton in the country is now due by the end of the year, just as the city's best months begin.
At a glance
From October 12 to 14, the 11th edition of Hospitality Qatar filled the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre with hoteliers, designers, chefs and suppliers. Organized by IFP Qatar with the support of Qatar Tourism, the show brought together 120 exhibitors, 90 from Qatar and 30 from Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India and Jordan, across hotels and resorts, interiors, food and beverage, technology and greener ways of running a hotel.
The Salon Culinaire set chefs against each other in live competitions, and Qatar Tourism co-hosted the Ambassadors of Excellence Gala to recognize leading names in the country's hospitality and tourism. For travelers, the takeaway is simple: Qatar continues to invest in the people, kitchens and service behind its hotels. That investment shows up in the details guests notice most, from the warmth of a welcome at check-in to the quality of a late dinner by the water.

The newest name on the city's hotel map is Kimpton Al Rowda Doha, IHG's first hotel under its luxury lifestyle brand in Qatar. Set in downtown Doha within walking distance of business districts and cultural landmarks, it will have 283 rooms, suites and apartments, with interiors by Studio Carter. Plans include five dining and lounge venues, among them a rooftop bar with views across the city, and, in true Kimpton style, pets will be welcome.
First announced for mid-2026, the opening is now expected by the end of 2026. It follows Kimpton's arrival in Riyadh and adds a playful, design-led option to a city better known for grand palace hotels. For repeat visitors who already know the classic addresses, it promises a different, more relaxed way to experience the capital.
November to March is the season to visit Qatar, with warm days and cool evenings that suit long walks along the Corniche. Begin at I. M. Pei's Museum of Islamic Art, then cross to Jean Nouvel's National Museum of Qatar, whose interlocking discs echo the desert rose; our guide to the region's great museums puts both in context. As the light fades, Souq Waqif comes alive with spice stalls, falcon shops, grills and karak tea.
Just north of the center, Lusail adds marinas, a waterfront boulevard and a new generation of hotels. Add Msheireb Downtown's restored heritage houses and a desert drive to Khor Al Adaid, where the dunes meet the sea, and a three- or four-day Doha vacation fills itself. Our Qatar travel guide covers entry rules, etiquette and timing.
Doha luxury hotels
Doha luxury hotels cluster in three areas: the towers and beaches of West Bay, the heritage heart of Msheireb near the souq, and the island calm of The Pearl. West Bay suits travelers who want a private beach and a skyline view; Msheireb puts the museums and the souq within an easy stroll; The Pearl feels like a Mediterranean marina transplanted to the Gulf. Our full guide to Doha luxury hotels and things to do lists the best hotels in Doha, with the picks below as a starting point.
Getting there is straightforward. This winter, Qatar Airways flies nonstop to Doha from twelve US cities, including New York, Washington Dulles, Miami, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Los Angeles, which makes a Doha stopover of one or two nights an elegant way to break a longer journey to Asia, Africa or the Indian Ocean.
