Sindalah Island, NEOM's luxury yachting destination in the Red Sea, was unveiled in October 2024 with a marina, a yacht club and resort plans; it is not yet open to the public, so yachting travelers today head to the open Red Sea resorts and marinas farther south.

Sindalah was conceived as a gateway to the northern Red Sea for superyachts: an island of about 200 acres with an 86-berth marina and offshore buoys, a yacht club with interiors by Stefano Ricci, island planning by the Italian yacht designer Luca Dini, beach clubs, a golf course and some three dozen restaurants and lounges. It was unveiled at a launch event in October 2024.
Since then the island has not opened to general visitors. Red Sea Global, the developer behind the Red Sea destination and Amaala, is reported to be taking on its management and planning its next chapter. Announced hotels, including a Four Seasons and properties from Marriott's Luxury Collection and Autograph Collection brands, have no confirmed dates. Follow the project on our Sindalah project page.

The heart of the island's yachting offer. Public operations to be confirmed.
For now, the Saudi Red Sea's yachting life centers on the marinas and islands of the Red Sea destination, where Shura Island's marina, sheltered lagoons and more than ninety islands make for remarkable cruising, and on Amaala's Triple Bay Marina and yacht club. Charter, itineraries and berthing are covered on superyacht charter, yacht itineraries and marinas.
Stay ashore at Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Four Seasons at Shura Island, or the Amaala resorts, all five-star and all open.
Northern Red Sea by yacht
The waters around Sindalah are among the most beautiful in the region: the Gulf of Aqaba's deep blue channel opens into the Red Sea between rugged mountains, with fringing reefs, quiet anchorages and visibility that divers rave about. Superyacht itineraries often combine the Saudi coast with Jordan's Aqaba and, farther south, the islands of the Red Sea destination, where marinas, fuel and provisioning are already in place. Winter and spring bring steady breezes and comfortable temperatures, ideal for sailing; summer is calm but very hot.
Yacht owners planning a visit should work with an agent who knows Saudi cruising permits, customs and port clearance, which have been simplified in recent years to welcome leisure yachts. See shipyards and refit for maintenance options in the region.
On the mainland, the wider NEOM region offers guided days in Wadi Disah's sandstone canyon and along the coral coast; see our NEOM travel guide. Inland, the Nabataean tombs of AlUla are a short flight away, and Jordan's Aqaba resorts sit across the gulf.
From the US, fly nonstop to Riyadh or Jeddah with Saudia (about 12 hours), then connect to Red Sea International Airport for the open resorts. Yachts cruising the northern Red Sea should check port and permit rules with an experienced agent. US passport holders use the Saudi tourist eVisa.
Sindalah's design remains one of the most ambitious yachting concepts in the region, and its location near the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba puts it on a natural cruising route between the Mediterranean, via the Suez Canal, and the Red Sea's southern islands. When Red Sea Global confirms a reopening plan, we will update this page with hotel names, star ratings and booking details. Until then, treat any offer of stays or berths on the island with caution and book only through official channels.
Island and marina living on the Saudi Red Sea is available today through branded residences at Shura Island and Amaala. See Saudi Arabia Luxury Real Estate.
