Saudi Arabia
Tabuk travel opens up northwest Saudi Arabia, a region of red sandstone towers in the Hisma desert, the hidden palm canyon of Wadi Disah and an untouched Red Sea coast. The city itself, with its castle and Hejaz Railway station, is the natural gateway to NEOM.

Tabuk is the capital of Saudi Arabia's northwest, an agricultural city of farms and orchards set on a high plateau. Its surroundings are some of the most dramatic in the Kingdom: the Hisma, a sea of red and ochre sandstone pillars and arches; Wadi Disah, a deep canyon lined with palms and running streams; and a Red Sea coastline of coral reefs and quiet coves.
The region is also where the future is being built. NEOM, with projects such as Sindalah island and Oxagon, lies along the coast to the west, and AlUla is a scenic drive to the south. Tabuk makes an excellent base for exploring all of it.

A vast landscape of eroded sandstone towers, natural arches and red dunes, closely related to Jordan's Wadi Rum. Ancient rock inscriptions are found throughout.
A compact stone fortress, rebuilt in the Ottoman era on a historic pilgrim route, with a courtyard, mosque and rooftop views. A small exhibit inside tells the city's story.
Restored buildings and a vintage locomotive recall the early-20th-century line that once linked Damascus with Madinah, a fine stop for history and photography.
Clear water, coral reefs and long empty beaches line the coast toward the Gulf of Aqaba, good for snorkeling and diving; see our Red Sea diving guide.
The plateau's farms grow roses, grapes and olives; spring brings colorful fields and seasonal produce markets.
Tabuk has a solid choice of international hotels; for beach resorts, look to the coast and The Red Sea.
The city's leading five-star, with international and local restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools and gardens, a comfortable base for desert excursions.

Domestic flights from Riyadh and Jeddah reach Tabuk's Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in about two hours or less. NEOM Bay Airport serves the coast to the west, and a rental car or driver is essential for exploring the desert and coast.
US passport holders can apply online for the Saudi tourist eVisa, typically approved quickly; the fee, including mandatory medical insurance, is roughly US$130–145 (approximate).
October to April is ideal, with warm days and cool to cold nights; pack layers, as desert evenings can be chilly and the nearby highlands occasionally see snow. Spring is especially beautiful, with green farms and wildflowers after rain. Summer is hot, best for early-morning outings and the coast.
