Why go

Why go to Amaala

Amaala is the wellness-focused sister of the Red Sea destination, developed by Red Sea Global farther north along the coast. Its first area, Triple Bay, gathers resorts around three bays with a marina, a yacht club, a marine-life institute called Corallium and a five-kilometer linear park for walking and cycling. Visitor numbers are capped and the destination runs on renewable energy.

The concept is longevity and restoration: spas with hyperbaric chambers and cold therapy, sleep and nutrition programs, and the sea at the doorstep. It suits couples and families who want calm rather than nightlife. Read about the wider plan on our Red Sea Global project page and compare spas on health spas.

Things to do

Days revolve around the spa and the sea: snorkeling over the reefs, paddleboarding in the sheltered bays, sailing lessons at the yacht club and boat trips to offshore islands. Corallium introduces the Red Sea's marine life, and the coastal mountains offer guided hikes at sunrise. Amaala is preparing to host the Grand Finale of The Ocean Race in 2027; check the events calendar for updates.

Combine a stay with the island resorts of the Red Sea or with the ancient tombs of AlUla, inland to the east.

Getting there

Getting there, including by private jet

Fly nonstop from New York or Washington to Jeddah or Riyadh with Saudia (about 12 hours), then connect to Red Sea International Airport, about an hour and a half from Riyadh. Resorts arrange electric-car transfers. Al Wajh airport, closer to some resorts, is reopening after renovation. Private jets use the same airports; see private jets.

Good to know

Resort dress is relaxed and swimwear is fine at pools and beaches. Alcohol is not served. US passport holders use the Saudi tourist eVisa. Summer is hot; October to May is ideal. Because the resorts are new, it is wise to confirm facilities and opening phases when booking.

Choosing your resort

Each Amaala resort has its own personality. Four Seasons is the all-rounder, with the longest beach and the best set-up for children. Six Senses leans into science-led longevity, with biohacking and sleep programs. Rosewood divides its grounds into family, couples and spa areas, so different generations can travel together without compromise. Equinox, adults only, is built around fitness and recovery, while Jayasom offers tailored wellness journeys. Nammos brings Mykonos-style beach dining and a more social mood. Most travelers stay four to seven nights to feel the benefit of a program.

Branded residences at Amaala

Most Amaala resorts include branded residences, from Four Seasons to Six Senses and Rosewood, making it one of the few places to own a wellness-led home on the Red Sea. See Saudi Arabia Luxury Real Estate and take professional advice.
